VIAW understands that every injured worker has a story to tell and this can be your opportunity to share it with others. One of the problems with the Workers' Compensation system is that not enough people know there is a problem. Bringing your personal stories of struggle and pain to the forefront can help expose what the effects are of a flawed system.
Our hopes are that injured workers can identify with other victims and reveal what common issues exist between them. This can also be used as an effective tool to help demonstrate to state lawmakers how the workers' comp system is impacting constituents. If you are interested in contributing your story, here is how you can.
Please follow these guidelines when preparing your story:
In this section, we need your name, geographic location, your age, married? children?, etc. This helps create the "face" of the injured worker.
What was your occupation at the time of injury? How did it happen and what kind of injury you sustained?
Medical care delays or denials, court battles or delays, money cut off, utilization review problems, reimbursements not paid, etc.
Financial problems, pain, physical limitations, overall how has this affected your life?
What do you think of the current system and how it treats people? What do you think needs to be changed?
We ask that you limit your story to one page. In choosing to share your store, contributors agree to VIAW posting stories at our discretion with or without edits.
