Sacramento –“VotersInjuredatWork.org is relocating its office to Southern California” announces Mark Hayes, President. “We have achieved remarkable success in the short time that we have been in existence. We owe that success to our dedicated Board of Directors, hardworking staff, and our volunteer army of District Chairs and Ambassadors.”
The move to Southern California will help to maximize their financial resources, according to the VIAW Board, which is intent on maintaining their position as a respected voice of injured workers that factually and fairly presents testimony at legislative hearings, regulatory hearings, and other forums. “We don’t need to exaggerate the plight of injured workers or throw out ugly accusations. The situation for injured workers today is bad enough without having to resort to that” says Hayes.
The business plan for restructuring includes new ideas for fundraising and continued alliance with other members of the workers’ compensation community who understand the problems and desire to solve the problems emanating from the new laws. “We will continue to work with attorneys, labor representatives and physicians” Hayes declares. “The key focus will be to restore benefits cut by the Permanent Disability Rating Schedule pursuant to the labor-management Commission on Health & Safety & Workers’ Compensation recommendations, improve medical treatment and delivery of services, enact effective penalties for the failure to provide proper medical treatment and help to return injured workers to productivity. And of course, we will continue to post helpful information for workers on our website. Our consultant, Peggy Sugarman, will see to that.”
